Interview with RandumbDude

On the 6th of February, I (MrCompost) had the privilege of interviewing Undead+'s creator: RandumbDude. I asked him five questions and he gave me his answers. Here is how it all went:

What inspired you to make the Undead+ mod?

Well, my first idea for a new Minecraft mob came from one of my old skins, which was a zombie in a suit with sunglasses. When my friend in MP asked why I wasn't burning in the daytime, i pointed out the sunglasses, and then thought it would be cool if there was a mob like that. After a few more ideas came to mind, i started a post under request/ideas for mods. With some support from the forums, it eventually grew into what it is today. A lot of inspiration came from existing zombie games, a lot of the ideas are original, and some great ideas have come from other users.

Did you ever think it would be as popular as it is today?

Well, I'm not sure it is quite "popular" yet, but considering that out first version only included 4 mobs and had 50 downloads with lots of great feedback, no, I did not think it would be this popular. In fact, for the first couple days i got barely any feedback and could not find a coder. I almost gave up.

You're mod has given you quite a respectable fan-base. How does this make you feel?

We have been getting a lot of great ideas and support from fans of this mod, and haven't really received any negative responses. Many users even help to make some textures, suggest ideas, and

test the versions for any bugs, so i am very grateful our fans are so active on our forum.

The 0.2 update added almost all of the planned mobs. Does this mean that we can look forward to the new items and structures in the next release?

We have decided to separate how we work into the versions. First, we are focusing on most of the mobs, then fixing the mobs and items, and then adding structures. v.02 focused on most of the mobs and bugs, meaning that v.03 should have lots of bug fixes ( i think the spawn rates are a little high ) and the rest of the mobs. This version may also include the Grave biome. Then v.04 Should include Graveyards, Infected Villages, and Crypts.

Finally, what do you think the future holds for Undead+?

There's plenty to look forward to in Undead+. My goal is to add lots of content, without adding lots of useless things, I've rejected many of my own ideas because they would not have a use. In the future you can look forward to things such as infected jaguars roaming the jungle, better uses for rotten flesh, pyramids in the desert that lead to underground catacombs, and possibly even a new game mode or two. I can't say too much for now because we are still trying to figure out what we can code and what we can't, But there is certainly more to come.

Thanks, RandumbDude!
